Clayton Klein Walking to Support Hospice
It’s official. The walk is on…for Clayton Klein, set to embark Saturday, Sept. 6 on his 4th Annual Walk for Michigan Hospice. That morning, the 89-year old Fowlerville, MI resident will begin his 355-mile trek south, down through the heart of Michigan, between Paradise in the Upper Peninsula and Hell in Livingston County. Klein is expected to reach Hell in the southeastern part of the state three weeks later on Friday, Sept. 26. Averaging 20 miles a day, the former businessman, author and adventurer is once again walking to benefit Michigan Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s educational scholarship program for hospice employees.
Klein invites the public to walk along with him on the journey – for a short jaunt, or for a day – to enjoy the early autumn beauty of Michigan, while walking for Hospice at the same time. As is years past, volunteers will be honored at a special dinner & awards banquet at the Volunteer Symposium. The Awards Banquet on Saturday evening will give recognition to all the “fine artists” of hospice ... our volunteers.CRITERIA: A volunteer in your hospice program who strongly believes in the hospice philosophy of care and delivers that care with dedication and compassion. The hospice program must be a current member of MHPCO in order to nominate their volunteer. Only one nomination per hospice program will be accepted.Please note that there are two different awards that require nominations for each.
